Supply Chain Manager

Supply Chain Manager required for a Manufacturing company in Sudbury. As Supply Chain Manager your role is to lead and develop the supply chain team to drive the current and future manufacturing and sustainability requirements of the business and customers; to develop and maintain strong two-way supplier relationships, achieving optimum service levels. For this role as Supply Chain Manager, you will have previous purchasing, MRP and people leadership experience gained within manufacturing. Ideally you will have strong supply chain experience and are seeking your next step not a more senior management role where you lead, implement and develop the existing supply chain within this manufacturing company.

 

The Role

  • Lead, motivate, train, develop and retain the key skills within the Supply Chain team
  • Participate in and contribute to teams engaged in the strategic development of the Company, working with senior leadership and other colleagues to focus and improve the performance of the organisation.
  • Continuously develop effective relationships with suppliers ensuring outstanding product quality, delivery and efficiencies are delivered.
  • Purchase of all materials and consumables to specification, achieving the best price and commercial terms delivered within the agreed lead times.
  • Negotiate all aspects of both contract and spot yarn purchase; present contract proposals to the Board for discussion and approval.
  • Source new raw materials to meet industry requirements; introduce new raw materials into the business to meet changing customer requirements.
  • Work closely with suppliers to develop the quality of the raw materials and processes to ensure that all variables are controlled within agreed limits.
  • Maintain stock levels within an agreed upper limit average stock-holding, whilst minimising the potential for stock-out.
  • Negotiations and supplier engagement.
  • KPIs – identify and implement the KPIs required to measure performance in all aspects of the role to identify opportunities for improvement.

The Person

  • Previous purchasing, MRP and people leadership experience within a relevant industrial environment with a strong commercial acumen.
  • Understand and have a desire to manage sustainability within an SME environment; familiarity with sustainability frameworks; experience contributing to annual sustainability reporting requirements.
  • Able to develop partnerships with suppliers.
  • Strong communicator both verbal and written.
  • Be able to sort and read complex data easily, identifying the critical factors, solving problems and being able to develop strategies based on the findings.
  • Ability to travel occasionally including internationally.
  • Advanced Excel expertise.
  • Professional certification – CPM, CIPS level 4 and above, EIPM.
  • Experience of leading warehousing/stores processes and teams.
